Funding Roadster

WE KNOW that kids love a tactile magazine they can hold in their hands and read in bite size chunks. Roadster was conceived as a magazine to keep the kids entertained on a long car journey (with stops in between). We've had feedback that it works!

The first issue of ROADSTER! was still something of a pretend child's game. Sam and Dad were doing something creative together and it was all a bit of fun. The magazine looked so good when it was finished that we HAD to get it printed! We self-funded a small batch for family and friends. One person bought one copy (thank you - they know who they are!).

When issue two came along we started to take it all a tiny bit more seriously. We self-funded a small test batch, and we received kind sponsorship for a further 70 copies. These were mostly given out at local car fairs and ran out very quickly! We took no money for any of these issues, and met P&P costs ourselves. Roadster is still running at a loss.

Now issue three is upon us. We have more readers but we do not yet have sponsorship in place (we will tell you if we do!). So the question is, how do we advance from here?

We have set up a website and a Paypal account, but we are unable to move both to commerce activities as these require monthly subscription models that we are not (yet) willing to pay for - we simply don't have the funds to put to it.

​

Whilst we are considering longer term funding solutions, Roadster! remains a great unknown... Who wants it? Who would be willing to pay for a print copy? Would people pay for a subscription model? Would companies pay to advertise? Should we be asking for help from the companies who benefit from the exposure Roadster! provides?  We simply don't know right now.

So whilst Roadster! is still one big experiment we are inviting people to help fund us in a number of ways:

1) PRE-ORDER a print copy. You can do this by emailing us directly (we will raise an invoice) or by making a donation to us via Paypal (don't forget to leave address and contact details to ensure we can keep you updated with order progress).

2) DONATE - No magazine (other than the free online version) but a big thank you from us, a credit (on this page), and knowledge that you are helping a fledging start up not-for-profit venture.

3) ADVERTISE - Contact us directly for a discussion. Roadster! is a child's magazine project and we don't want to go too far with advertisements, but space in our rear cover is up for grabs. We're prepared to talk to help the magazine.

4) SPONSOR - We would be grateful for any help to get the magazine into the hands of as many children as possible, and will work with you on ensuring the distribution meets your expectations.

Our printers have quoted the following APPROXIMATE figures:

15x magazines - £41.50

50x magazines - £107.50

150x magazines - £320.00

200x magazines - £426.50

300x magazines - £620.50

We will include a sponsorship banner in the Editorial page (1st page inside) in any printed copies.
