​Roadster! is a not-for-profit child-led car magazine project for kids. We LOVE our magazine but it is costing us and the economic reality of this situation is biting.  Our parent / child 'passion project' has grown - more magazines, more events, more travel, more extras.

 

We had hoped to be self-sustaining by now, but we aren't quite there yet. Roadster! Dad still raids his piggy bank to keep it all going. This model is unsustainable for future growth.

 

WE KNOW that kids love a tactile magazine they can hold in their hands and read in bite size chunks. Roadster was conceived as a magazine to keep the kids entertained on a long car journey (with stops in between). We've had feedback that it works!

 

Our costs are primarily production costs, peripherals products (such as event leaflets), public liability insurance and sundries involved with attending events (such as transportation costs).

We've already had some great help! We had some sponsorship of our 2nd issue, silent financial support for the fifth issue, and our April 2024 crowdfunder was a modest success - with our gazebo was sponsored and provided by Modex exhibitions, and crowdfunding redirected into printing, All of this has meant we have been able to socialise our project over the course of 2024 and get our magazine into the hands of more readers.

Our inside covers are now dedicated to advertising. We now offer revenue generating advertising space for a very modest price (our only incentive is to support the magazine). We know a low circulation independent may not be all that attractive - but consider your CSR! Contact us for more information.

Our gazebo was kindly sponsored, and we need more help like this. We are open to all sorts of sponsorship arrangements, including feature and magazine sponsoring. We will include a sponsorship banner in the Editorial page (1st page inside) in any printed copies. 

 

PARTNERSHIPS:
Event organisers have been letting us pitch up in exchange for a nominal partnership arrangement (normally we produce some kind of Children's activity sheet). We've had feedback that our stall is a stand out and our offer for children is popular. We are open to ideas. 

 

DONATIONS:
Roadster! is a not-for-profit social enterprise. Aside from the experiences the kids have making Roadster! they see no return for their efforts, and the adults take nothing from the project - Your donation will make a huge difference!

 

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS:
We don't believe we are unique. There MUST be other kids doing something similar, or small start up motoring magazines with a different USP but similar challenges? We want to forming a coalition with these fellow self-publishers, sharing advice, pooling resources, giving each other promotion, collaborating on a microsite, making advertising more attractive... Together we could make something amazing!

 

PAY IT FORWARD:
Our technology is creaking at the seams. Our old computer is broken, storage plans are running out of space, and we could do more if we had better tech. Where older, but serviceable equipment is discarded by bigger titles you could pay-it-forward in the knowledge that it is being used to inspire youngsters.
