Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670 SuperVeloce

James shares the moment his life changes forever...

In 2009, my life changed forever—not because I became a moody teenager or the world faced a financial meltdown, but because Lamborghini unveiled the greatest car ever made: the Murciélago SV. From the moment I saw it, I had to have one. I stopped buying sweets, washed every neighbor's car, and saved every penny of birthday money, all in the hope of one day affording the quarter-of-a-million-pound supercar.

And strangely it looked like I had a chance as no one was buying them! Lamborghini planned to build 350 but only managed to sell about 186. After the financial crisis, people were more concerned with keeping their homes, not a supercar that cost as much as one. This motivated me to work hard in school, to get good exam results, to get into university, to get a job, to hopefully get my hands on the alcantara steering wheel. Alcantara is a soft material often used in sports cars as it is lightweight.

I am still working on my dream as there isn’t a bright yellow Lambo on my driveway. I don't even have the driveway yet!

But why have I spent 15 years chasing a lump of carbon fibre? Firstly, look at it. Lamborghini took the already menacing looking Murciélago and added an aggressive body kit, huge rear wing and branded the famous SV letters onto the rear hind. Blending simplicity with aggression to make one of the best looking cars ever made.

It is a different story on the inside of the car because rather than adding things, Lamborghini stripped almost everything out of the Murcielago to save weight - including the floor mats! They also added 30 more horsepower to live up to the name SV, which stands for Super Veloce—Italian for ‘super fast.’

I fell in love with this faster, lighter and angrier Murcielago when I was a much younger Roadster and am still working towards my dream of driving one. I don't think I've ever even seen one in real life! But having this goal inspired me to work hard in school and life.

So is there a car that you are obsessed with that will fuel your passion and drive for the next 15 years?
