Meet Ruben, a young racing driver determined to make his mark in professional motorsport!
Ruben Stanislaus has always wanted to be a racing driver. He’s been karting since the age of four and competitively since the age of five, winning a number of karting championships.
Ruben, together with his friend, Lewis Appiagyei, was the subject of a 2022 BBC fly-on-the-wall documentary ‘We Are England: Born to Race’, which followed the pair - they even got to meet their hero, F1 ace Lewis Hamilton!
Last year Ruben competed in the Praga Cup, an opportunity for young drivers to progress through motorsport to endurance racing. Racing with team Idola Motorsport in the amazing Praga R1 car, Ruben finished second in his debut Praga Cup National Championship season!
Ruben is coming up fast!
Sam was lucky enough to get to chat with Ruben…
SAM: How did you get started on your career?
RUBEN: So I got started when I was 4 years old, back in Go-Karts. I just went to my local track and basically got hooked from there! I started on little electric go-karts and then just gradually progressed through the ranks.
It’s what I love doing and I've been doing it for 14 years now!
SAM: What are you doing now?
RUBEN: I’ve just finished a season with Praga, which is like a Le Mans prototype car. I was racing throughout the UK and I finished second overall in that championship! This year I'm hoping to go into Lamborghini Super Trofeo, in the GT car… I just need the budget to do it!
SAM: What are your plans for the future?
RUBEN: My long-term plan will probably be in GT Racing on a worldwide scale, so Le Mans or any prototypes really. I would have loved to do F1 but it's just so expensive!
I've got a passion for GT Racing. That's what I love to do!
