LEGO Minicars Set to Take Over Silverstone!

The British Grand Prix is one of THE BIGGEST weekends in world motorsport.

And this year, Formula 1 and LEGO are teaming up to create something completely new, completely wild, and completely unmissable! Ahead of the 2026 race at Silverstone, all 22 Formula 1 drivers will take part in the Drivers’ Parade in fully drivable LEGO minicars, each built from more than 28,000 bricks and styled in their team’s 2026 colours.!

Roadster! readers should get ready for one of the most playful, chaotic and creative moments ever seen at a Grand Prix!

Formula 1 is transforming the traditional pre‑race parade into a full-on LEGO takeover! Instead of classic cars or team trucks, the grid will roll out in 22 single‑seater LEGO minicars, one for each driver. These are REAL drivable machines:

• 28,000 LEGO bricks per car

• 280 kg total weight, including 65 kg of LEGO

• Top speed: up to 25 km/h

• Standard go‑kart wheels for safe handling

• Designed by 20 LEGO engineers and builders

• 6,400 hours of development and construction

Each minicar is styled to match the team’s 2026 livery, complete with colours, logos and driver numbers - fans can instantly spot their favourite driver as they cruise around Silverstone!

Why LEGO?

Last year’s Miami Grand Prix featured 10 giant LEGO “big‑build” cars which became one of the most talked‑about moments of the season. Drivers loved it. Fans loved it. Bricks flew everywhere. It was chaos in the best possible way.

Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer Emily Prazer said the Miami parade “captured the imagination of fans around the world,” and the British GP is the perfect place to go even bigger!

LEGO’s Chief Product & Marketing Officer Julia Goldin added that fans and drivers asked for more - so LEGO is delivering a full grid of minicars this time.

Engineering Fun!

Even though these minicars look playful, they’re serious engineering projects. Built at LEGO’s Kladno factory in Czechia, each car uses a steel chassis underneath the brick shell, allowing the drivers to actually pilot them safely around the circuit.

The design team had to solve:

• Structural stability

• Weight distribution

• Steering and braking

• Brick‑built bodywork that matches 22 different liveries

• Safety features like bumpers and roll‑hoops (added after last year’s Miami’s “brick‑smashing” antics)!

It’s a perfect example of how creativity and engineering collide - something Roadster! readers know all about!

What to Expect

The LEGO Drivers’ Parade will take place about 90 minutes before lights‑out on race day. Fans at Silverstone - and millions watching worldwide - will see:

• Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Lando Norris and the entire grid

• Each in their own LEGO minicar

• Driving a full lap of the circuit

• In what is expected to be one of the most entertaining moments of the weekend !

If Miami was anything to go by, expect laughter, friendly chaos, and maybe even a few bricks flying!

Roadster! Verdict

This is more than a parade! It’s a celebration! Formula 1 is showing that motorsport can be serious and playful, technical and creative, elite and accessible.

It’s a reminder that the road to racing starts with curiosity, building, experimenting!
