Unique adaptations given to cars make them interesting and desirable: Jeeps are ideal for rainforest trekking; F1 cars for speed; and your parent’s car is perfect for the school run. In 1966, Lamborghini shocked the world by releasing the first Supercar, the Miura. A car adapted to thrill the driver and wow pedestrians with a big engine, striking looks and high price! The supercar is still the car of choice for your favourite actor, footballer and Youtuber.


Supercars have stiff suspension and thin tyres, making them blisteringly quick - but they struggle climbing rocky roads, clambering across dry deserts and skimming over slippery snow. The Lamborghini Huracan is no different. However, the new Huracan has been modified to push the boundaries “when the asphalt ends” (according to Lamborghini). This adapted model is called the Huracan Sterrato and is “the first all-terrain super sports car”.


The shouty, powerful engine and angry Italian styling remain but the car has been tweaked to challenge gravel roads and icy alpine paths. It has been raised by 44mm and given armour so that rocks do not destroy fragile carbon fibre bodywork.


The rally-inspired lights on the bonnet and roof rails give the Sterrato the offroad look. However, the coolest adaption must be the roof scoop, which feeds air to the engine without mud and stones also being churned up by the V10 powerplant.


Lamborghini has history off the tarmac. The founder of Lamborghini, Ferrucio Lamborghini, began making tractors and Lamborghini’s first off-road car was the LM002 which was designed

for the army in 1982.


The Urus is Lamborghini’s most recent Sports-Utility-Vehicle (SUV, an offroad inspired passenger car). Which makes us think – should you buy the Sterrato or a Urus if you want to go exploring?


Although the Sterrato’s modifications make it more capable - more importantly they make it more fun. Cars should be useful, but they should also make you smile and laugh. Do we really need supercars? Not at all, but how cool is it when one blasts past you? Very! And if you were brave enough, not much would be more fun than attacking a gravel track in the Sterrato.

Lamborghini’s latest creation allows owners to conquer new boundaries whilst retaining supercar dynamics and design. The Sterrato builds on Lamborghini’s history of creating cars that inspire us to dream of the adventures we would have if they were in our garage.
