Alpine’s Awesome ALPENGLOW!

Alpine Alpenglow Hy6 Concept

Alpenglow is a peek into the future of super cool sports cars and race cars.

This concept car runs on hydrogen, making it super powerful and exciting to drive while also being way better for the planet.

It’s built with cool racing tech and inspires Alpine’s next gen of awesome, sustainable cars.

Meet Alpine’s Alpenglow...

a futuristic hydrogen-powered concept car with a roaring 740bhp "Hy6" engine!

First revealed in 2022, it’s now a working prototype, built for performance and planet-friendliness. Instead of petrol, it burns hydrogen, releasing just warm air and water vapor.

Alpenglow is not just high-tech engineering either. Its sleek aerodynamic design is built for speed and sustainability.

Roadster! editor Sam met Alpenglow at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where its sleek design and clean tech wowed the crowds.

Could cars like this be the future?

Write in and tell us what you think!

Starting Price: Not For Sale!

Power (BHP): 740

Top Speed: 350 kph

0-62 mph: 2.15 secs

Goodwood Score: 11

1. Reading Comprehension

Read the page carefully, then answer:

What kind of fuel does the Alpenglow use?

In what year was the car first revealed?

How much power does the Hy6 engine produce?

What does the Alpenglow release instead of smoke and pollution?

Where did Roadster! editor Sam see the car?

2. Vocabulary Check

Match the words to their meanings:

a) Prototype

b) Aerodynamic

c) Sustainability

d) Hydrogen

e) Performance

How well something works

A gas used as a clean fuel

A first working model of something new

Designed to move through air easily

Being able to keep going without harming the planet

3. Maths Challenge

Use the fact box on the page!

1. The Alpenglow can reach 350 kph. How many mph is that? (Hint: 1 kph ≈ 0.62 mph)

2. It goes from 0–62 mph in 2.15 seconds. How many times faster is that than a school run of 10 minutes

(600 seconds)?

3. If the Alpenglow could keep its top speed of 350 kph, how far would it travel in:

1 hour?

2 hours?

4. Science Thinking

Why is hydrogen a better fuel for the planet than petrol or diesel?

What comes out of the car’s exhaust?

Why do you think car designers care about aerodynamics?

5. Creative Task

Imagine you are driving the Alpenglow at top speed! Write a short description of your journey.

You could describe:

● How the car looks and feels

● What you can see out of the window

● The reaction of people who see you drive past

6. Extension

Do you think cars like the Alpenglow could be the future?

Write 3 reasons for and 3 reasons against hydrogen cars
