An extremely rainy day couldn’t dampen ROADSTER’s! spirits at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Festival is a celebration of all things automotive, with lots of amazing cars being celebrated, with cars taking their turn to speed speed up the iconic Goodwood hillclimb, Formula One cars up close, static displays of the latest cars, an opportunity to meet motorsport heroes, enjoy immersive experiences and stalls, and explore the amazing Supercar Paddock.
ROADSTER! attended the Friday of the festival as guests of Polestar, and Sam was particularly keen to see the latest cars in their line up. He got to explore Polestar 3 for real after exploring it on screen for ROADSTER! issue 2 (he even got to pretend he was driving it up the famous Hill!), he took an exclusive seat in the Polestar 5 grand tourer prototype AND he was treated to an exclusive VIP close up tour of the Polestar 6 concept Roadster! “It was amazing!”, says Sam “It looked so fast! I liked that the car was equipped with a drone which takes off from a runway on the back of the car to film the car driving!”.
Sam also got to visit Alpine cars, and was given an extremely privileged opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of their brand new A290_ 𝝱 (beta) - a very special concept electric street racer, “Wow!” says Sam “The car was amazing! I really liked the driver’s seat, right in the middle of the car like a racing car! It even had a Formula One steering wheel! and the lights were so cool!”
As if THAT wasn’t enough! Sam also got visit the Hyundai N zone, got to watch the cars speeding up the Hill from Hyundai’s exclusive rooftop bar, and got up close to Hyundai’s extraordinary “N-Vision 74”, a hydrogen-hybrid powered “rolling laboratory” testing hydrogen power “Wow Dad! Look at that!”. the N-Vision 74 is a stunning retro-styled vision of the future “It looks like the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future!”.
In amongst all of the excitement Sam also found time to watch cars speed around Goodwood and have a wander around the Supercar Paddock, where he got up close to the brand new Aston Martin DB12, among others.
“Goodwood was EPIC!” says Sam “I’ve GOT to go back next year!”. Hopefully the sun will shine on Goodwood for 2024.
