Roadster! meets the presenter who proved machines aren’t just for grown-ups.
When Grace’s Amazing Machines first hit CBeebies, it was an instant hit with kids who loved engines, power, and wheels. But more than that, it was something new: a presenter who actually rode the motorbikes, drove the fire trucks, and jumped into the cab of a combine harvester – no stunt double required!
Grace is appearing all weekend at the British Motor Show. Roadster! had a quick chat with her all about Grace’s Amazing Machines!

ROADSTER!: Grace how are you?
GRACE: Hey! I’m good thank you
ROADSTER!: What are your memories of making Grace’s amazing machines?
GRACE: I’ve got so many good memories! The variety of machines that I got to try out, drive, ride, fly. I think that’s what I remember the most is being able to try out lots of different things, some of which I loved.
ROADSTER!: Which machine from amazing machines do you remember the most and why?
GRACE: I think the one that I remember the most was the wing walking plane probably because it was an overload of senses – I could feel the wind on me! It took your breath away! The view from standing on the wings of the plane was just... incredible! It is something that is ingrained in my brain forever.
ROADSTER!: Was there a machine that totally surprised you?
GRACE: The one that surprised me was a machine called a “Sea Breacher”, which basically looks like a metallic shark that you sat within. There were so many controls in terms of the things you could push, pull, and rotate. There was joysticks that you had to move in all directions that had buttons on them. So I think that’s the one that surprised me the most in terms of what I had to do to make it move!
ROADSTER!: What was the trickiest machine to ride or drive?
GRACE: The trickiest one I would say, was one called an E-Wake, which is like an electric surfboard! You had a remote control in your hand which meant it powered the board - you didn’t need to wait for a wave like a regular surfer would do! So you had to have a lot of finesse with both your hands and your feet to to balance it and control the speed.
ROADSTER!: What do you think the legacy of Grace’s Amazing Machines is?
GRACE: The legacy of the show I’ve seen is through the reactions that when I get to meet younger kids that have watched the show and that they’ve been brave enough to try sitting on a machine that they haven’t done before. Some kids have picked up the courage to put a helmet on where they were a bit nervous to before, or maybe some children have said that they’ve developed their vocabulary and tried speaking new words and learned new things from it.
I think the main legacy is is that it’s accessible to a lot of children and that they’re gaining different experiences in their own way that I hope will last forever with them.
ROADSTER!: Thanks for talking to us Grace!
GRACE: Thank you! I hope to see some Roadster! kids at the show!
